Neighboring Country Impact

Simultaneously, the north-eastern Podlaskie region, which likewise adjoins Belarus, has documented over 100 cases in which contraband was flown from its neighbor using the weather devices.

Smuggling Techniques

In response to questions about why smugglers utilize a approach that remains particularly vulnerable to weather factors rather than more controllable drones, representatives elaborated that "Atmospheric equipment are rudimentary tools used by smugglers - they are cheaper than drones for transporting cigarettes from Belarus."

Law Enforcement Objectives

Officials added that "Our services' aim is to confiscate the maximum possible quantities of contraband and to arrest masterminds and participants so that this activity become unprofitable and create minimal risk to passenger aircraft."
