The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
