The speculation surrounding The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, especially after presenter Geoff Keighley posted a mysterious image of a desert monolith. The secret has now been solved. Larian Studios is creating a brand-new Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included memorable imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very opening of infernal gates.
Not the Expected Sequel
For those expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian stated ahead of time that a follow-up to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
That said, the developer described this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This phrasing hints that the team might be crafting a more action-oriented experience as opposed to another tactical title. Currently, we can only guess, as only a cinematic trailer is available.
